Terms of use

Last updated

Rewind City is a blog and forum about analog and retro tech, run by one person. Using the site means you are fine with what follows. It is short on purpose.

Your account

Use a real email address you can receive mail at, since that is how you get back in. One account per person, and do not pretend to be someone else or take a username meant to look like theirs.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is in it, email me and I will lock it.

What you post

Your posts and photos stay yours. By putting them on the forum you are giving me permission to show them on the site and to include them in things like search results and link previews. Nothing more than that, and the permission ends for new uses if you delete the post.

Only post things you made or have the right to share. Do not upload other people's photos, articles or manuals as though they were yours.

House rules

Be decent to each other, keep it on topic, and no buying or selling. The full list lives on the forum and it is the version that counts.

I can edit or remove anything and close any account, usually because of the rules but sometimes because something is simply a mess. There is no committee. If you think I got it wrong, email me and say so.

Repair advice comes from strangers

People here will tell you how to open a turntable, swap a belt, replace a stylus or put a warped record between sheets of glass. They are hobbyists sharing what worked for them, not qualified technicians, and neither they nor I can promise it will work for you.

Old gear runs on mains voltage, holds charge in capacitors long after it is unplugged, and can be ruined by one wrong move. You take that on yourself. If a job involves anything you are not confident with, pay someone who does it for a living.

Affiliate links

Some product links earn a small commission if you buy through them, and it costs you nothing extra. Recommendations are not for sale, and no brand has paid to appear here.

The site itself

This is a hobby project, not a service you are paying for. It might go down, lose something, or change without notice, and I am not liable if any of that costs you. I keep backups and I do care, but I am not promising uptime.

Leaving

You can stop using the site whenever you like, and email me if you want the account and everything on it deleted. I can also close an account if someone is making the place worse for everyone else.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes too.
